As Seen on Social: Winter Weather at North America Sites Garners Top Post

From snowy weather at our Arizona operations to the appointment of Kathleen Quirk as President and CEO, the most popular social media posts so far in 2024 are wide ranging.

Between LinkedIn, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, the company’s social media channels have approximately 235,000 followers, which includes employees and their families, community members near company sites, and industry leaders. Employees can help keep those numbers up by following, interacting and sharing Freeport-McMoRan’s social media posts on the platforms referenced above or by searching hashtag #WeAreFreeportMcMoRan. Meanwhile, here are the company’s top five performing social media posts so far in 2024.

No. 1 – Weather Across Arizona Operations

The post, which included a carousel of employee-provided images of snowy weather from Safford, Morenci and Bagdad, garnered more than 226,500 impressions (the number of times the post was seen) and 4,500 reactions (likes, shares and comments).

No. 3 – Announcement of Kathleen Quirk as President and CEO

The post announcing the appointment of Kathleen Quirk as President and CEO received nearly 47,000 impressions and more than 1,000 reactions.

No. 2 – Copper Coral Sculpture

The second most popular post featured a “copper coral” sculpture, crafted by smelter workers at Freeport-McMoRan’s Miami operation. This post received nearly 83,000 impressions and more than 1,300 reactions.

This post featured an article on Freeport-McMoRan’s Chairman of the Board and former Chief Executive Officer Richard C. The post linking to an interview between Richard C. Adkerson and Liz Claman following the release of the 2023 fourth-quarter and year-end results received more than 35,500 impressions and 720 reactions.
